Fletchervirus phages
WebOct 31, 2024 · Fletchervirus phages encode a typical SP-endolysin dependent on the Sec-pathway for translocation and on a holin for activation. Similarly, Firehammervirus phages also encode an endolysin that is dependent on the Sec-pathway for translocation. However, these phages appear to possess a novel lysis inhibitor WebOct 31, 2024 · Campylobacter phages are divided into two genera; Fletchervirus and Firehammervirus, showing only limited intergenus homology. WebFletchervirus phages encode up to four different RBPs, two of which contain N-terminal polyG tracts To identify putative RBPs, we selected 18 diverse, CPS-depen-dent C. … WebIn contrast, the Fletchervirus phages rely on CPS for infection and the phase variable MeOPN modification has been identified as a phage receptor recognized by many of these phages (Sørensen et ...
WebTo elucidate how phages adapt to phase-variable hosts, we study Fletchervirus phages infecting Campylobacter dependent on a phase-variable receptor. Our data demonstrate that Fletcherviruses mimic their host and encode hypermutable polyG tracts, leading to phase-variable expression of two of four receptor-binding proteins.
